Jenny Ray is the 2025-2026 East Central Middle School Support Professional of the Year!

Jenny joined the team at East Central two years ago as an assistant clerk. We asked her a few questions to learn more about her and her time in Tulsa Public Schools.

What led you to a career in education?

I’ve always had an interest in working with children whether it be in the classroom or anywhere in the school.  If I can be around kids and feel like I can make a difference somehow; that’s where I want to be.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about my job is getting to come to work every day and see some of my favorite people. I have become very close with those I get to work with every day. Also getting to see the kids come into the office every day and interact with them is awesome. Even as a school secretary, I feel like we can make a difference and have a positive influence on these kiddos' lives by just sharing a little bit of ourselves everyday and letting them know we care and are here if they need us.

What is one thing you are passionate about outside of work?

I am extremely passionate about my family, my children, and my new grandbaby boy. I love getting to spend time with them as much as I can. I also love design, decorate and throw parties!

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I am so glad ECMS gave me the opportunity and brought me on board. I have developed the closest friendships that I will have forever. But the thing I hope for the most while I am here is that I will have changed even just one student’s life for the better. You never know what one student may grow up to do will do and what their impact might be. It’s easy to get discouraged, but we must remember that.
