Through athletics, our coaches help our student-athletes develop socially and emotionally, building the skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and responsible decision-making, all while building relationships with their teammates, opponents and community members.

Clubs
East Central Middle School has a wide range of extracurricular activities to choose from to help students make our mission of college and career readiness a reality. By participating in clubs, students learn important communication skills, leadership, and time management.

EnrichED Clubs
- Chess
- Sponsor: Ms. Jimison
- Chess is an afterschool club where students can play casual chess, competitive chess in local tournaments, and virtual chess in the state and national esports leagues.
- Location: Ms. J's room for physical chess, Mr. Calloway's room for Esports chess.
- Meeting Days: Wednesday, Oct. 2, 9, 16, 30, Nov. 6, 20, Dec. 11.
- Game Time
- Sponsor: Ms. Roberts
- Game Time is a free gaming club where students can play video games for leisure.
- Location: Ms. Robert's room
- Theatre/Drama
- Sponsor: Ms. Albert
- Location: Ms. Albert's room; Auditorium
- Herpetology
- Sponsor: Ms. Springer
- Herpetology is the study of amphibians, and she will be sharing that passion and research through instruction with her students.
- The club meets from 4:35 to 5:30 each Thursday.
- Cardinal Overtime
- Sponsor: City Year
- Cardinal Overtime is an academic tutoring club.
- Location: City Year Room.
- Dates: Tues., Wed., Thurs. weekly. It begins at 4:30 and ends at 5:30.
- Creative Writing
- Sponsor: Mr. Ward
- This club guides students on their journeys of creative writing through many genres.
- Dates: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday weekly from 4:35 to 5:15.
- Culinary Arts
- Sponsor: Mr. Calloway
- Culinary Arts teaches students cooking skills. There will be field trips to Eastside grocery stores and after school cooking involved on Tuesdays. The club will run from 4:35 to 6:00pm.

- National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)
- Sponsor: Kelli Roberts
- The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character.
